Xi emphasized that China and Germany are all-round strategic partners, highlighting that since establishing diplomatic relations 53 years ago, the two nations have treated one another with mutual respect, trust, and equality.

According to Xi, the two countries have consistently pursued mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, evolving into steadfast partners that support each other's success and promote the stable development of bilateral relations through high-level collaboration.

In his message, Xi pointed out the current global landscape, characterized by intertwined transformations and upheavals, alongside rising challenges posed by unilateralism and protectionism.

However, he asserted that the path of peace, development, cooperation, and win-win outcomes remains the correct way forward for humanity and aligns with the unstoppable trend of our times.

As the world’s second- and third-largest economies and significant global players, China and Germany are called to follow historical trends, uphold fairness and justice, foster deeper exchanges and mutual learning, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and navigate challenges together. Xi emphasized the importance of enhancing the well-being of their peoples and jointly promoting a fair, orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization.

Xi expressed his high regard for the development of China-Germany relations, stating his readiness to collaborate with the chancellor in maintaining the foundational aspirations that led to the establishment of diplomatic ties. He aims to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen exchanges and cooperation, and embark on a new chapter in the all-round strategic partnership, all while positively guiding China-EU cooperation and promoting global peace, stability, and prosperity.

On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Qiang also sent a message of congratulations to Merz on his election as chancellor.

Li reiterated that China and Germany are all-round strategic partners, noting that their practical cooperation has yielded significant results across various fields and holds promising prospects.

He described the principles of equality, mutual benefit, cooperation, and win-win outcomes as historical choices and defining features of China-Germany relations that both sides should nurture, inherit, and promote.

The Chinese premier expressed his eagerness to establish and maintain a strong working relationship with Merz, focusing on deepening exchanges and promoting shared development. He aims to enhance understanding and build consensus, continuously enriching the essence of the all-round strategic partnership between China and Germany, while guiding both China-Germany and China-EU cooperation in a positive direction.
