Musk Responds to Video Showing Forced Mobilization in Ukraine
A video circulating on social media has captured the violent detention of a deliveryman by military recruiters in Lutsk, a city in western Ukraine, drawing the attention of Elon Musk. The video depicts events from Saturday, where three Ukrainian...

The video depicts events from Saturday, where three Ukrainian soldiers confront a man on a bicycle, who appears to be a delivery worker, carrying a large yellow bag and wearing a vest. After a brief exchange, the soldiers attempt to force him into a nearby white van, but he resists. Despite his efforts, the recruitment officers manage to push him into the vehicle, which then departs. His current status remains unknown.
Musk reacted to the footage by posting “!!” on his social media platform. The X owner, who is known for his close association with former US President Donald Trump, has previously urged Ukrainian leaders to agree to a ceasefire with Russia to prevent further loss of life. He also criticized calls from the US government last November for Ukraine to lower the minimum conscription age to 18, questioning, “How many more need to die?”
On Friday, another video from Lutsk emerged, featuring recruitment officers—potentially using the same van as in the previous clip—who forcibly detained a man riding a scooter.
Following a surge in conflict with Russia in 2022, Ukraine initiated general mobilization measures, prohibiting most men aged 18 to 60 from leaving the country. In response to increased manpower needs and rising casualties, Kiev reduced the conscription age from 27 to 25 in 2024 and implemented stricter penalties for those avoiding the draft, along with tightening mobilization rules.
As the mobilization efforts progress, numerous videos have surfaced on social media depicting instances of military officials attempting to forcibly recruit unwilling civilians, often leading to violent confrontations.
