Israeli attacks intensify throughout Syria as regional opposition grows

Israeli air activity in Syria ramped up significantly on Friday, with reports of warplane strikes hitting the capital city of Damascus as well as central and western provinces, alongside drone operations in various areas, as per Syrian media and a monitoring group.
In rural Damascus, a drone strike attributed to the Israeli military resulted in the deaths of four individuals in the town of Kanaker on Friday afternoon, according to the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan.
Additionally, at least 10 airstrikes targeted the vicinity of the eastern suburb of Harasta, which included a military position near the Harasta Military Hospital, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor.
Syria's state broadcaster Al-Ikhbariyah reported significant material damage from the airstrikes; however, as of Friday evening, there were no confirmed fatalities. Emergency services were dispatched to the affected areas.
In southern Syria, airstrikes from Israel hit the outskirts of the towns of Mothbeen and Izraa in Daraa Province. Meanwhile, in central Syria, an Israeli airstrike targeted the outskirts of the village of Shahta in the western countryside of Hama Province on Friday evening, resulting in injuries to four individuals, as reported by local media.
Moreover, Israeli reconnaissance aircraft were seen flying over southern and central regions of Syria, including the provinces of Daraa, Homs, and Hama, indicating a possible coordinated effort.
Israeli national broadcaster KAN stated that the Israeli government had authorized the targeting of additional locations in Syria, which include military installations and sites linked to the new Syrian authorities. Reports indicated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz had given the green light for these new targets.
In reaction to the airstrikes, the Arab League condemned the actions, deeming them "a dangerous escalation and a rejected and condemned violation of Syria's sovereignty." The statement from the pan-Arab organization suggested that the strikes were intended to destabilize the situation, meddling in internal affairs and infringing on Syrian territory.
The Arab League also called on the UN Security Council to intervene and halt the Israeli attacks, warning that these actions could "ignite the situation in the region."
Iraq expressed its disapproval as well, with the Foreign Ministry releasing a statement that categorically rejected all recurring Israeli assaults that infringe upon Syria's sovereignty and threaten its security and stability.
