"BRICS Called to Protect Rights of Developing Nations"
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized on Wednesday the importance of BRICS nations enhancing unity and collaboration to serve as a dependable advocate for protecting the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries.

Wang, who also serves as a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, delivered these remarks during the 15th Meeting of BRICS National Security Advisers and High Representatives on National Security in Brasilia, Brazil.
He pointed out that in the current global landscape, an increasing number of countries are eager to engage with BRICS and hope to join its ranks.
Wang warned that adopting a transactional mindset in international politics and weaponizing global trade would only deepen the crisis of trust among nations and threaten global security. He stated, "Concession leads nowhere and unity is where the hope lies."
He urged BRICS nations to actively defend the right to development, take the lead in fostering unity and cooperation, and uphold multilateralism. He underscored the importance of standing firmly against reckless powers while safeguarding the rights and opportunities for development for developing nations.
Attendees of the meeting concurred that BRICS countries should cultivate consensus and collaborate to combat all forms of bullying, interventionism, and tariff abuse. They affirmed the need to adhere to multilateralism, protect the common interests of the Global South, and work collectively towards creating a multipolar world characterized by peace, security, fairness, and justice.
