Trump Expresses Disfavor, Saying He's ‘not a big fan’ of Zelensky
US President Donald Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his management of the ongoing conflict with Russia.

During a press conference with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the White House on Thursday, a reporter questioned whether Trump holds Zelensky accountable for the war. Trump responded, “I don’t hold Zelensky responsible, but I’m not exactly thrilled with the fact that that war started. So I’m not happy with him. And I’m not happy with anybody involved.”

He further emphasized that Russia possesses a “bigger military force” than Ukraine and advised, “If you’re smart, you don’t get involved in wars … I’m not blaming him, but what I am saying is that I wouldn’t say he’s done the greatest job, OK? I am not a big fan.”

Trump reiterated his belief that the conflict would not have erupted during his presidency, attributing the situation to the actions of his predecessor, former President Joe Biden.

Despite occasionally criticizing Russia, Trump has consistently pointed to Zelensky’s inability to secure a peace agreement with Moscow. He remarked, “You don’t start a war against someone 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles,” during comments made on Monday.

In a contentious exchange at the White House in February, both Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance accused Zelensky of showing ingratitude towards American support and “gambling with World War III.”

The U.S. president and his team have indicated their intention to negotiate a ceasefire as soon as possible and to establish a deal regarding the extraction of profits from Ukraine's mineral resources. However, Trump has not offered specific security guarantees to Kyiv.

This week, Vance labeled Zelensky's assertions that the Trump administration is promoting Russian narratives as “absurd.”
